Make it possible to sort contexts
complete
Oran Wilder
Hi All!
Thanks for waiting while we worked up to the full sort functionality. You can now:
- sort contexts by name A-Z or Z-A
- sort contexts by created date ascending or descending
- search contexts by name.
The default sort is alphabetical by name. Click on the "Created" label to switch sorting from name to created date and to toggle between ascending/descending.
There's an additional context update to be aware of this week as well. Contexts now support expression-based restrictions. You can learn more here https://circleci.com/docs/contexts/#expression-restrictions if you're interested. Cheers, Oran

Oran Wilder The new UI looks great! I do agree with others though that having the ability to sort by creation date would be a great feature, and a good next milestone here.

Update: We've improved the Contexts UI with alphanumeric default sort order and a search bar for finding contexts by name.

Elizabeth Borders Do you know if there is any progress on this?

Scanning through lists to find the right context is time consuming and counter productive because. Ctrl + F is an option, but it would be beneficial to add sort options, such as alphabetic, oldest, newest, last used, recently added, etc.

Yea, 100% agree with this. It is increasingly difficult to quickly identify the context I want to go in to as our list of contexts grow.

Even having the default view sorted alphabetically would be a big improvement for scanability. Currently the sort is random. I added 4 new contexts and they ended up all over the list.
