Users currently have no way to differentiate between manual workflow cancellations and system-generated auto-cancellations (e.g., workflows auto-cancelled after 90 days due to expired on-hold jobs) within their notification settings. This results in unexpected notification noise for users who only want to be alerted about relevant cancellation events.
Problem
When a user enables the "Cancelled" notification setting, they receive alerts for all cancelled workflows — including system auto-cancellations from on-hold jobs that may be months or years old. There is currently no way to filter by cancellation type.
Requested Behavior
Allow users to distinguish between cancellation types in their notification preferences, for example:
A separate toggle for "Manually cancelled" vs. "System auto-cancelled"
Or, suppress system auto-cancellation notifications by default with an opt-in option to enable them
Current Workaround
Users can disable all "Cancelled" notifications and keep only "Failed" enabled, but this removes visibility into intentional cancellations by teammates.
Impact
Users experience notification fatigue from system-generated cancellations, making it harder to identify actionable alerts.
