The GitHub App integration currently supports triggering a pipeline by commenting run-ci on a pull request.
It would be useful if additional parameters or arguments could be provided with the command and made available to the triggered pipeline, for example:
run-ci action=deploy env=staging
run-ci action=deploy env=production
Or alternatively, a simpler argument-based syntax:
run-ci deploy staging
run-ci preview staging
The pipeline could then decide how to interpret and validate those values, allowing teams to build parameterised workflows directly from a PR without needing an additional GitHub Action, webhook handler, or other intermediary.
More generally, this could be implemented by allowing the PR comment trigger to match run-ci followed by additional text, with either the parsed parameters or the additional text exposed to the triggered pipeline.
This would be useful for workflows where the same pipeline supports multiple actions or environments, while keeping the developer experience entirely within the PR.
